BIOGRAPHY
Latanya Alberto was born and raised in Amsterdam with roots in Suriname and Curaçao. The foundation of Latanya’s poetic writing style is grounded in poetry, she began writing as a teenager. Topics she addresses include social and cultural awareness, female empowerment, (in)justice, and romance. She combines her musical storytelling with visual expressions to create a complete experience.
She released her most recent EP, titled ‘Home’. She is now on the roll out of releasing her new project. The first single ‘Watch You Leave’ released last May. She has sparked the interest of well respected artists like Robert Glasper and Masego. Providing a live experience with her band is what she considers the most enjoyable.
Latanya has performed live shows on stages such as Eurosonic, twice at COLORS, has played multiple times with the Metropole Orchestra, headlined shows from Paradiso Amsterdam to London, and toured in India. She opened for John Legend at the Ahoy Arena and played a North Sea Jazz headline show in 2023, where she was also highlighted as ‘The talent to watch’ at the festival.
